Aylesbury Waterside Theatre have partnered with local garden centre, Hartwell Nurseries in celebration of this year’s giant pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk (running from Fri 5 Dec ’25 – Sun 4 Jan ’26), offering Easter visitors the chance to grow their own beans!
From Mon 14 – Sat 19 Apr, as part of the garden centre’s commitment to encouraging younger generations to get involved with gardening, wildlife and nature, children will be invited to plant beans onsite and take them home with them. Hartwell Nurseries are supplying the materials and will provide a check list on how to plant and care for the seeds over the coming weeks.
Owner of Hartwell Nurseries, Neil Bowness said of the event: ‘We are expecting a busy Easter trade now that Spring is finally here, and having met with Aylesbury Waterside Theatre earlier this year, we loved the synergy of working together to promote their family panto, whilst getting kids gardening! With mental health and well-being high on the agenda of late for young people, we’re proud to be doing our bit in getting kids off their screens and interested in nature.’
With the right conditions, Hartwell Nurseries might just be helping to grow the biggest beanstalk Bucks has ever seen this Easter! And if not, there’s always the chance to see a beanstalk of epic proportions when Jack and the Beanstalk comes to town this Christmas (complete with incredible 3D special effects) in Aylesbury’s favourite festive tradition, the annual pantomime.
